18 years of finding the gremlin and getting rid of it

CGE Computers is an independent technology consultancy in Arvada, Colorado, owned and run by Matthew Audette since 2008.

The short version

CGE Computers started in 2008 as a house-call computer repair and tech support business for homes and small offices around the Front Range. The gremlin came from those early years: every unexplained crash, every mystery slowdown, every network that stopped working for no reason had a gremlin in it somewhere. Our job was to find it and get rid of it. People liked the gremlin. We kept him.

The work has changed. Today most of what we do is technology consulting for business owners and leaders, custom software and mobile apps, AI consulting and workflow automation, and websites we design, build, and host ourselves. The job has not changed at all: find the thing that is costing you time or money, fix it properly, and leave you with something simpler than you started with.

How we work

  • One senior engineer, start to finish. You talk to the person doing the work, every time.
  • Prices in writing before work starts. Fixed price where the scope is clear, estimates with a cap where it is not.
  • Boring infrastructure on purpose. We choose tools that are cheap to run and hard to break, because you will be living with them long after launch.
  • You own everything. Domains, accounts, code, and content stay in your name. We just hold the keys while we work.
  • Local, remote, or on a plane. Based in Arvada, on-site across the Denver metro area, remote anywhere, and available to travel across the US and abroad where we can legally work.

Matthew Audette

AI consultant and quality engineer who helps small businesses and nonprofits put AI to work, safely.

Matt has spent more than fifteen years making software prove it works. He started CGE Computers as Computer Gremlin Extermination, a house-call computer repair business for the Denver suburbs, and ran its Google Ads so well that every dollar spent on marketing came back as four in revenue. After selling the customer list in 2016, he moved into software quality engineering: Verical, i4 Insight, IHS Markit's financial data platforms used by major banks, and Slalom Build.

Most recently he spent four and a half years at Wildlife Protection Solutions, a conservation-tech nonprofit, building the test program for wpsWatch, a real-time camera and sensor alerting platform used by anti-poaching teams around the world. That meant more than 2,300 automated tests running on every deploy, a team of ten AI agents that sweep each release and write the reports, and a benchmark for wildlife-identification AI models. It is the experience behind CGE's AI consulting: he has put AI to work in production, with real security and privacy stakes, and he knows where it fails.

The work does not stop at the county line. Matt has worked on-site in the UK and South Africa and supported clients remotely in New Zealand, Australia, Colombia, and Argentina. He is available for on-site work across the US, and internationally wherever he can legally work.

Matt lives in Arvada, Colorado, with his wife Rachel, the photographer behind TTC Headshots and The Turquoise Camera, and their two dogs, Poppy and Tony, who come along on every road trip they can.
